SNEEK, THE NETHERLANDS, and TONSBERG, NORWAY- (November 20, 2017) – WindSim and Windplanner are happy to announce that their software systems will integrate smoothly, thus creating synergy for customers.

About WindSim

WindSim is a tool to design highly profitable wind farms. Using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) WindSim establishes highly detailed wind resource maps; it makes advanced simulations of local wind fields, and it calculates wind power forecasts. It helps to optimize park layouts by identifying turbine locations with the highest wind speeds — but with low turbulence — to maximize production.

About Windplanner

Windplanner is an online tool to assess the visual impact to the environment. It shows the wind park real time while you plan it, from any angle in 2D, 3D and with Google StreetView. With virtual reality glasses, you see the wind farm as if it is already built. These visualizations strengthen and speed up projects in each phase: varying from a sketch tool in the (pre-)feasibility phase to a communication tool to create support from stakeholders and residents.

Exchange of data and GIS layers

Working with both software tools entails the easy import of turbine locations and dimensions. Also, Windplanner can import the high-quality WindSim result layers, such as the Wind Resource Map.
